VOLY wears it Pink for Breast Cancer Awareness
The 21st of October marked Wear it Pink day for Breast Cancer Awareness Month in the UK…the Voly team got together for some fun fundraising
This is Emily & Carolyn’s Story
One of our very own Client Relationship Managers, Emily Smith came forward with her inspiring story. Emily’s mum Carolyn, has been through 175 rounds of chemotherapy after being diagnosed with breast cancer. With breast cancer awareness month approaching, Emily wanted to give back to the charity by fundraising
while raising awareness for the cause. In support of Emily and Carolyn, Voly got involved by hosting a fundraiser at Voly HQ.
Breast Cancer Awareness
Breast cancer stops for no one, woman or man. This year, around 55,000 women and 370 men in the UK will hear the words you dread to hear. The money raised goes towards Breast Cancer Now, where the fundraising will help fund life-changing breast cancer research and support. Their aim is to create a future where, by 2050, everyone who develops breast cancer lives – and receives the support they need to live well. Find out more
Remember to Check
Checking your breasts is as easy as TLC:
- Touch your breasts: Can you feel anything new or unusual?
- Look for changes: does anything look different to you?
- Check any new or unusual changes with a GP.

Voly Breast Cancer Fundraiser
The fundraiser kicked off with a sea of pink making its way through the Voly office. We dressed for the occasion, wearing pink shirts, trousers, pink masks and there was even an appearance from a pink flamingo!
Sponsored Head Shave
Erfjen a member of our Operations team kindly volunteered to lose his hair in the name of charity. Much to the amusement of the entire office who watched him lose his hair bit by bit, while other members of the team took turn using the clippers.
Egg and Spoon Race
After that, there was only one thing for it…a school day classic, the egg and spoon race. Things got rather competitive at this event, some very serious looking contenders took their marks, and set off for the race of a lifetime with Voly’s pink flamingo in the thick of it. The concentration of the competitors faces tells you no-one wanted to be last, manoeuvring around tricky corners with a raw egg balanced on a spoon is serious business. After a few smashed eggs, Richard from building management was crowned the winner. We had a lot of fun, in the name of fundraising. A big thank you to everyone who took part.
Bake Sale
No fundraiser is complete without a bake sale! The Voly team baked a wide variety of cakes, from blondies to brownies, sponges to cheesecake. A full table of treats, that sold like hot cakes, with buyers truly spoilt for choice. Who knew we had so many bakers in the team. The bake sale proved that it’s difficult to resist a good cake, other offices made their way to buy Voly’s cakes, tupperware and plates in hand, ending with a bake sale sellout.
Putting the fun in fundraising!
Voly would love to thank everyone who showed their support. We raised £1,042.50, this amount was matched by Voly Group, to bring a total of over £2,000. The whole team is proud to have raised so much for such a worthy cause!
A special thank you to Emily's mum Carolyn, for letting us share her story
